Heard of a dungeon over six hundred years old. There were six but only one is left. It has a ditch around it where they fought with bows and arrows. It is used as a prison now.

Meeting. Song Service. Made 20 pies and 300 donuts. The men come over on horseback and call, “Any pies today?” One of the officers came in and when he saw the pies he said, “Oh, homemade!” and took a sample and then a pie.

A bright, cold, and sunny day. Made donuts and 15 pies and they were all gone in one hour. Adj. and Lynton came and stayed all night. They helped in the evening and we were glad of the help. Had a very busy time serving coffee. Had a good meeting. Some of the officers came in and told us that The Salvation Army was doing a good work in all the camps but especially in Montiers.
Saturday, November 10, 1917
Made 26 pies and about 250 cookies. Served coffee all afternoon and evening and was too busy to think. Payday. Col. came and brought supplies and stayed all night. It rained and was a terrible night.

Busy but happy.

Made cakes and straitened my things. Meeting at night, and we had a very good meeting. About seven hundred boys were in. Had a rushing time with the coffee.
Wednesday, November 7, 1917
Raining. Baked 150 doughnuts and 22 pies. Col. came and brought supplies and stayed for dinner. Had a busy afternoon, and at night the hut was crowded and the men were glad for the coffee .Went to bed tired and happy.

A very fine day but a day of many trials. But God was good. Made cakes and donuts. Was tired at night. A few French soldiers went by.
