The Y. gave a time in our hut and we had a jolly time. It is terrible; very heavy firing all the time.

We made cocoa and the men enjoyed it very much. A noisy day and night. There are many sad hearts, brave Mothers. The boy are such brave men. This is the best bunch I have been with.

This was a day of hard fighting and much loss. A very busy day for the Red Cross. Many of our boys were gassed.
