Had a quiet day. Capt. was away all day. At night we left and slept in a truck. It was fun but at four the boys came to move the troops and we couldn’t get in our rooms so had to climb in a window.

A quiet day but all was excitement. Everybody had to leave the village. At night we went to a farm a mile away and slept in the farm house. It was very damp.

A very warm day. The Germans planes came very near and made quite a time. At night we had a band concert. We had a meeting in the afternoon and a Y. man talked and we all enjoyed it. There was a little excitement at night. Three bombs were dropped by the Germans ,and we went in a cave with our landlady. No harm was done by the bombs. Very exciting.

Had a fine concert given by the 28th band. Many of the boys came in and had cocoa. They sure did look tired and sick. Twenty one days at the front and only forty hours sleep.

There is a movement of troops. Many were killed while changing. Seven U.D. came back empty. Think of the terrible loss. A wonderful day but sad. Russel left for home. Many of the boys have been killed. I took pictures of some of the Supply Train.

Capt. went to Buere and I had a busy time. Col. B. came at five and we had a talk; it seemed like old times. Had a good meeting but the boys had to leave because of the changing the 28th in to the front and the 18th out. Had a very bad night of heavy shelling and several bombs fell and we had no rest till about three in the morning.
